Our adoption story
As of right now, our story is pretty small. A few years ago we began to discuss the idea of adoption. We liked the concept, in theory, but were terrified of the unknowns and the cost.
In June of 2010, though, we heard a message on adoption from Dr. Russell Moore. It was convicting and encouraging, at the same time. We became convinced of the theological underpinning of adoption and were moved to get involved.
We had a couple of major roadblocks that stood in front of us, but we began praying and seeking God to open doors for us. To be honest, those roadblocks are still there, but we are trusting in God that He is going to make a way.
So, we are now at the point where we are ready to move forward in the process. Having lived in West Africa, we love the continent of Africa and we chose Ethiopia for three major reasons. First of all, the need there is desperate. Second, we love Africa & finally, we desire for our family to be a picture of the gospel as God reconciles people from every “nation, tribe & tongue” and brings them together into one gospel family.
As we move forward, we have two major obstacles that need to be cleared out of the way. The first is that we must sell our home. We currently live in a very small, two bedroom home with our girls. We do not have anywhere to even add one more bed. We will have to move into a new house if we are to add more children to our family. We’re planning to put the house on the market in the spring, and we need prayer that it will sell.
The other major obstacle is the cost, as is true for most every family looking to adopt. However, we are confident in the provision of the Lord and we are looking forward to watching as He makes a way!
