We like to use the phrase”adoption is the gospel with skin on”. What we mean by that is that adoption, much like marriage, is a picture of the gospel. When God comes to us, we are lost and without hope. We are separated from Him and we are unable to fix ourselves. God, in His mercy, reaches down and accepts us as we are. He adopts us into His family, and we live from that moment on as an equal part of His family, with every right and responsibility that any other family member might have.

The act of adoption is literally living out that story in front of the world. While we are absolutely committed to the idea of telling others about that message, we are grateful for opportunities, like adoption, to live out that commitment in a real and tangible way in front of others.

Over the past few years Tracy & I have been increasingly burdened by the need to adopt. Developing a passion for adoption has connected with our love for Africa and after much prayer, we are beginning the process of adoption from Ethiopia. Although we have talked to many, many friends who have walked through this process, we are extremely unsure what the future will look like. All we know is, much like marriage, adoption is a breathtaking picture of the gospel, one which we are grateful for and one which we want to be a part of. If you would like to know more about our family click here, or our adoption story, click here.
