The Blog
We like to use the phrase”adoption is the gospel with skin on”. What we mean by that is that adoption, much like marriage, is a picture of the gospel. When God comes to us, we are lost and without hope. We are separated from Him and we are unable to fix ourselves. God, in His mercy, reaches down and accepts us as we are. He adopts us into His family, and we live from that moment on as an equal part of His family, with every right and responsibility that any other family member might have.
The act of adoption is literally living out that story in front of the world. While we are absolutely committed to the idea of telling others about that message, we are grateful for opportunities, like adoption, to live out that commitment in a real and tangible way in front of others.
Great blog! Adoption is the gospel with skin on… I like that
God bless you in your adoption journey.
I’m happy for you, Tracy and Micah. And I’m thankful that you’re doing this consciously and submissively as the Gospel lived out in your lives. It will require sacrifices, but sacrifices you’ll willingly make. The results in this life will be largely immeasurable; those for eternity will, I pray, be infinitely glorious. If this comes together, I know that you’ll be blessed: blessed in times of joy and in times of tears; blessed when it provides you with a whole new way of seeing…of seeing the Lord God, the Gospel, other people, and yourselves. Thank you for embracing this opportunity, knowing that God has first embraced you with the privilege. I honor you both, knowing that God in His grace has honored you beyond all telling or descriptives with the gift of going forward with adoption. You prayed long for direction; you’ll pray the rest of your days, if it is to be, for the child about whom you prayed these previous five years. It’ll be your brothers’ and sisters’ pleasure to pray with you in the days to come. God bless you; be God’s.
